低溫與高溫對(duì)玻璃強(qiáng)度的影響是不同的，一般認(rèn)為隨著溫度的升高會(huì)使缺限處積聚更多的應(yīng)變能，增加破裂的概率。當(dāng)溫度高于200℃時(shí)，由于玻璃黏滯性流動(dòng)增加，使微裂紋的裂口鈍化，緩和了應(yīng)力作用，從而使玻璃強(qiáng)度加大。玻璃的使用溫度范圍較廣，溫度對(duì)玻璃強(qiáng)度影響的機(jī)理目前尚未探明，根據(jù)在零度（-273℃）至500℃范圍內(nèi)的測(cè)試，強(qiáng)度較低點(diǎn)位于200℃左右。
